A Leclanche cell is a type of electrochemical cell used to generate electricity. It consists of a zinc anode, a cathode made of manganese dioxide, and a carbon rod that acts as a current collector. These components are placed in a container with an electrolyte, usually ammonium chloride. When the cell is connected to an electrical circuit, a chemical reaction occurs between the zinc anode and the manganese dioxide cathode, allowing electrons to flow and generating electrical energy.
